Hey everyone. Here are some drawings I did from the random specimens from around the room of the zoology class I'm taking.

lizard pose

Here's a screen grab or two of some of the progress on the lizard from my zbrush class. Lizards in the mist...also I bet you didn't know that lizards with absurdly large hands have a full on greco roman wrestling desert league. Seriously.

Skeleton From Memory

My teacher Cesar Dacol Jr. is proposing we do this exercise where we first draw a human skeleton entirely from our imagination for thirty minutes and then draw it from reference for thirty minutes. Theeen go back and do another drawing from memory. It peaked my interest since I have been jonesing to get my anatomy back up. This is the first drawing from memory. I like it....ish.

Birds!

I just rented The Life Of Birds With David Attenborough and I did some studies while I was watching the DVD. Birds are pretty rad.

Old Art

Okay, so I know that no one likes someone who keeps reliving the past but here is a link to some of my older works. My friend is in the process of setting up my professional website so sometime quite soon, my exploitation of all of these public domain sites will be a thing of the past.

Hope you enjoy!

revised portrait

While I was waiting in line at the DMV I finished up the portrait of the girl. Needless to say, the DMV is still a cold, dismal institution that should provide foot and back massages as you wait for your number to be called. When will the American public get to see the "friendlier" side of the DMV? Who knows. Alright later everyone!

Figure Drawings

These are some figure drawings I did at a workshop near my house. Which reminds me. I am also looking for work as a figure model. Just throwing that out there. I never thought I'd be posting to work naked on the internet. At least not before I turned 25. haha!...seriously though. Ta ta for now!

CENTAUR!!!!

Alright, it's been awhile since I rapped at ya but I've got exciting news. The pic of my friend Andrew as a Centaur singing his song of peace for his war torn land is finally complete. Now all that's left is printing the image out on some fabric, sewing it to a blanket or pillow case and giving it to his girlfriend. She's gonna love it I can already tell.

figure drawings

Alright. Here's some more figure drawings. cominAtcha!

centaur

To make a long story short, my friend is making a bedspread for his girlfriend with an image of him as a centaur playing the pan flute over a waterfall. He asked me to make the image. These are the value sketch, color with contours, & color without.

figure drawing & character drawing

hey kiddos. Here's the latest. I found a figure drawing group down here at the YWCA and was afraid I wouldn't get in, what with being a non-christian guy and all. Contrary to the mission statement of their masculine affiliate you can NOT get yourself clean, have a good meal, OR do whatever you feel. Bummer. Also, this is a drawing of a construction site across from the coffee shop in Redondo I go to. I'm coloring it in right now.

Story Explained

Okay, I know this is against the credo of storyboarders, but for those who require words to compliment their visuals I decided to give a brief wrap up of my snippet of a story I've made.

The Scene: A future where the computer still has yet to exist. Technology still revolves strongly around engineering & steam power. More specifically, the train station in Paris, France. Taxis carry incoming travelers to their destination using mechanical arms and a system of ropes and bars throughout the town, emulating that of a primate jumping from branch to branch of a tree. The sun is setting over the overpopulated metropolis as commuters flood the land, river and air.

A local INVENTOR with visible bandages and scrapes waits for his incoming train back to his home. A middle aged man with an estranged family, obsessive personality, and unbalanced work-play ratio. After realizing he has been reading his paper for a long time now, he looks up to check the time from the clock on the dock where he is waiting. 7:02. His train is late.

As he looks up, his eyes drift towards a beautiful BLONDE WOMAN dressed conspicuously inconspicuous. She is carrying a weathered BRIEFCASE.

FLASHBACK: The BRIEFCASE suddenly triggers a horrible memory of two nights prior. While walking home from meeting a colleague for business and a drink, he finds himself caught up in a celebration that he is unsure of what it is for. As his instincts would generally tell him to avoid crowds he ducks into an alley that has served him as a shortcut quite reliably in the past.

This time however, he is met by a GOON with a sloped forehead, bowler's hat and a DESERT EAGLE. With a heavy chuckle and little remorse, the GOON shoots him in his right shoulder. The pain causes him to drop his BRIEFCASE and the GOON walks off with it, enveloped by the extravaganza taking place in the city's square.

As time passes, he hires an investigator to find his neanderthalic attacker. This leads him to the Jazz club downtown where he sees his BRIEFCASE, the GOON, and a beautiful BLONDE WOMAN enjoying dinner at a table across the way. The GOON nudges the BRIEFCASE to the BLONDE WOMAN with his foot and upon finishing dinner, takes it with her and out the door. On her way out she turns around to look back at her associate. Her face is burned into the INVENTOR's mind forever. What lies in that BRIEFCASE is capable of changing the world in ways no layman could imagine, and in the wrong hands, could very well destroy what civility we have left in our society.

END FLASHBACK

PRESENT: The INVENTOR is already sprinting towards the BLONDE WOMAN, determined to get back what is rightfully his.

Value Passes DONE!!!!

Okay, so I'm not finished with these by a longshot, but at least I am done with this phase of it. I think I will build up two or three of them to a higher level of detail and finish.

one more to go

I liked how this frame turned out. I think I might redo this one and finalize it a bit more after I finish the last frame.

last storyboard

okay, here's the last one. Now I'm gonna go back and do the others. Dang, I thought I was done already. Oh well, no biggie.

another quick one

Another frame? why not?

Next two storyboards

So the value tests are turning out to be awesome! I can't imagine working any other way. I'm probably going to have to go back and do the others that way as well. Since this is steam-noir, I probably could get away with just doing it black and white, but the point of my wanting to do this project was to expand with color as well. Any way, signing off for now. Laters!

change up

okay, so I just read this interview with some asian guy who did some crazy fan art for transformers and he showed his process which starts with rough black and white images. So I think I'm gonna do that before I jump into color. Most of these storyboards kinda look like finger paintings, but I'm liking the black and white approach.
