okay, here's the last one. Now I'm gonna go back and do the others. Dang, I thought I was done already. Oh well, no biggie.

another quick one

Another frame? why not?

Next two storyboards

So the value tests are turning out to be awesome! I can't imagine working any other way. I'm probably going to have to go back and do the others that way as well. Since this is steam-noir, I probably could get away with just doing it black and white, but the point of my wanting to do this project was to expand with color as well. Any way, signing off for now. Laters!

change up

okay, so I just read this interview with some asian guy who did some crazy fan art for transformers and he showed his process which starts with rough black and white images. So I think I'm gonna do that before I jump into color. Most of these storyboards kinda look like finger paintings, but I'm liking the black and white approach.

rough of the taxis

This is a rough sketch I did while taking a break from driving down to LA. After a brief sabbatical getting reorganized, I'm back to it.

okay, just got the next two frames up.

first two panel color passes

I plan on getting the rest colored much quicker.

my favorite bum

This is a portrait of my favorite bum that hangs out in downtown Santa Cruz looking like this. Seriously, if you see this guy, the glint in his eye (or off of his goggles) tells you that there is no doubt in your mind that whatever that guy has chosen to do with his day, it will involve a squash racket, serious eye protection, and lots of caffeine for energy.

storyboard roughs

okay, so after gathering a ton of reference material, writing a brief snippet of a story, I'm ready to start storyboarding. I just got the roughs done today but so far I'm pretty happy with it. There is a flashback that I haven't properly signified but other than that I'm happy with it. Kind of a steampunk noir type deal.

skateboard

oh yeah. I broke my skateboard the other day, and as part of one of the more brilliant presents I received, I got 5 blank skateboard decks of which I will paint myself as I break them. Kind of sweet. My girlfriend's pretty great I thought.

a quick revision

after talking with my client we came up with a better flyer with more "positive" connotations than oil drilling.

other flyer

I had never really done much graphic design work, but I just finished two flyers for a friend and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. Here's the other one. Enjoi!!!! I even got to make a layer that will correspond to which part of the flyer is shiny and which isn't. OOOOooooo!!!!

My first installment

So after a quick break, I'm back to it and here is what I've been up to recently. The flyer is for a friend of mine who is a DJ named DJ Eko. The portrait and Lizard Mouse were made entirely in photoshop. I was hoping to make some storyboards coming up soon so stay tuned!
